"ALWAYS DON'T"

Since you are now a five year old adult, you have gotten to the point where you ALWAYS speak your mind and accept whatever consequences that come along with it. I know that I know that I can be a huge irritant at times and just like you, I do things to get under your skin. I like to get a reaction out of you and mostly because, your reactions are really funny. Other times, I'll ask you to do something and if you don't agree or want to do it, you'll have something to say in response mostly to avoid doing what I asked. In those instances, I get frustrated and we both know who looses the fight at that point. Well, a big fight that we have at this point is combing your hair. I suppose over the years of manipulation and not being well managed at night (since I work the night shift), your edges are even more thin and for that reason, you hate getting the edges brushed. Since the edges are still a part of your hairstyles, I have to brush them, there's no way around it. A couple of times, you've gotten mad about it and have refused to turn your head and yell in response to which I reply "I don't care" and without missing a beat, you respond "YOU ALWAYS DON'T CARE!" So I'd like to take a brief moment to respond to your allegation that I know the present five year old you won't understand.

I ALWAYS DO care and although it may not seem that way in the moment, I always consider your feelings. Melba can attest to the fact that I always go to her asking questions and seeking clarity about the way I handle certain situations when it comes to you. I ALWAYS DO things that I believe will benefit you and I consider your comfort in all things. My goal is not to stress you out or to cause you to associate negative things to what is supposed to be a good experience. I ALWAYS DO want what's best for you and I want to always see you happy.

2015 Came and Went

I find it so hard to believe that there is not a single post from 2015 especially because I thought of blogging more than once. That year literally came and went. Since I didn't find the time to chronicle some of the things that happened in 2015, here's a quick little overview for you:
*You rode a plane for the first time
*You lost 5 teeth
*You outgrew your entire wardrobe (on down to the socks)
*You started school
*You had a Monster High birthday party
*You met your sister Maria
*You found out that you're an aunt
*You went to the Royal Family Christmas party and invited to camp the following summer
*You slept your way into the new year

That about sums up the major events in the year and all of the minor, more daily things are reflected in the tons of photographs and picture books that are kept away in your secret time capsule. Oops, did I say that?!..
